Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to some of the most common questions about AFRA.
1. What is the American First Responder Association?
The American First Responder Association (AFRA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and empowering first responders through scholarships, mental health services, educational resources, and community connection. Our mission is to serve those who serve us.
2. Why should I donate?
Your donation directly supports the future of first responders by aiding in scholarships, mental health resources, and other career support initiatives. Every dollar helps us build stronger, safer communities.
3. Why should I join as a member?
Membership is free and gives you access to our exclusive community hub, where you can join professional groups, connect with other first responders, explore job opportunities, and be part of a nationwide support network.
4. What are the questions on the scholarship application?
Applicants answer a few multiple-choice questions about their background, then submit two short essays:
-
Why do you want to pursue a career in EMS?
-
Why do you feel you are a strong candidate for this scholarship?
5. Do you offer scholarships for the police academy or fire academy?
Not yet—but we plan to soon! Expanding our scholarship programs to include police and fire academy training is part of our next growth phase.
6. How else can I help out?
You can help by donating, volunteering, sharing AFRA on social media, or becoming an ambassador to help us reach more first responders in need. Every action makes a difference.
